Welcome to the Grateful Oak. This blog was born out of a desire to find what can be found in the world of Bourbon, as well as other American whiskies, and share it in a way that is welcoming and friendly. I’m Hayden, and I was brought into the journey of America’s spirit by my father. My family is from Tennessee, and whenever we get together we love to share new flavors we have found and experience new creations in the bourbon industry together.
The name The Grateful Oak comes from another love of the writer, a band that wanted to share good tunes with the world, regardless of who listens. The Grateful Oak strives to share good bourbon with its readers, whoever they may be. Much like how they prioritized the music and wanted to share with everyone, these whiskey reviews will accomplish the same.
Every week, you can expect to come back here for new reviews, as well as news about the bourbon and American whiskey industry. I encourage all readers to share your own opinions about the whiskies that bare talked about on this site, and we can all grow, learn and drink together.
As we begin this blog and this brand, we will share ratings, notes, prices and estimated availability of all that is reviewed. The Grateful Oak is based in Hawaii, so most of what we can get ahold of is hard to find by our standards, and some things that are hard to find in other states are unobtainable for us. Rest assured, we will always bring new products into the light and encourage readers to give us their suggestions and requests of what they would like to see.
-Cheers
